PAIDEIA

An intensive reading, writing, and discussion seminar for young men in grades 8–12.

Through challenging works of literature, philosophy, rhetoric, and Christian thought, students learn to read attentively, think carefully, discuss ideas seriously, and express themselves with clarity and conviction.

An Intensive Writing Lab

At the center of Paideia is an intensive writing lab. Students write frequently and revise substantially, developing skill in literary analysis, argumentation, rhetorical analysis, evidence-based reasoning, organization, and style. Required readings—including selections from Seneca and C. S. Lewis—provide the ideas and texts around which the seminar’s discussions and writing assignments are built.

Advanced High-School Preparation

Paideia also serves as strong preparation for advanced high-school work, particularly AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition. While it is not defined solely by an AP examination, its demanding reading, analytical discussion, and sustained writing practice develop many of the habits and skills students need to succeed in both courses.

Who Paideia Is For

The program is intended for young men who are ready to read consistently, write seriously, receive constructive criticism, revise their work, and contribute thoughtfully to a community of learners.

Faith, Culture & Service

Seminar discussions may also engage selected cultural affairs, Latter-day Saint apologetics, and preparation for missionary service when relevant to the readings and the needs of the class.

Tuition: $200 per student for the 2026–2027 year.

Hybrid instructional support continues between scheduled meetings through assigned reading and writing, instructor communication, coaching, feedback, and revision support.

Wait for Both Written Confirmations

Parents should not pay until they have received both (1) written confirmation that the student has been accepted into Paideia and (2) written confirmation that sufficient enrollment has made the class viable.

Application or preliminary registration does not guarantee enrollment or authorize payment.
