Apply for the grade-designated Arete Honors Living Science course. Please submit a separate application for each student.

Utah Fits All Scholarship

Scale How School is now an approved vendor through the Utah Fits All Scholarship. Our offerings are not yet listed in the UFA marketplace, but they will be available soon.

Grades 2–5

Lower School Enrollment

For Wayfarers and Investigators. The application includes the Student Code of Conduct & Host-Home Agreement and a parent signature.

Grades 6–10

Upper School Enrollment & Readiness

Students who are new to Arete complete the readiness application and email the required handwritten writing sample to rachel@scalehowschool.com. Returning students do not need a writing sample when last year’s teacher recommended that they continue and the recommendation appears on the student’s report card. Grades 7–10 also complete a math readiness check.

Class Availability

Each Arete class is limited to seven students. Seat counts reflect confirmed enrollments and are updated as placements are accepted.

Class-offering notice: All classes and program offerings are contingent upon teacher availability and sufficient family interest. A listed class or application option does not guarantee that the class will run.

Before Submitting

  • Read the applicable course page and syllabus.
  • Review the Family Handbook with your student.
  • Parents of Upper School applicants should watch the Arete Upper School Parent Orientation video. This video does not replace Student Orientation.
  • Be prepared to support required textbooks, assignments, Anki, and Moodle when applicable.
  • Upper School applicants may be asked to complete a readiness assessment.

Payment After Acceptance

Please do not send payment with the application. Payment is requested only after written acceptance and seat confirmation.

Annual payment in full is preferred. Families may instead choose the October–May monthly plan.

Lower School
Annual cost: $330 tuition + $50 materials fee
First class day: $116
October 1–May 1: $33 per month
Upper School
Annual cost: $430 tuition + $50 materials fee
First class day: $136
October 1–May 1: $43 per month
  • The first-day payment includes 20% of tuition plus the $50 materials fee. Both are nonrefundable.
  • Monthly installments are due on the first of each month, with the final installment due May 1.
  • A single $10 late fee is charged for an overdue family invoice.
  • Children of Arete teachers receive $50 off tuition per student. Their first-day payment is $106 for Lower School or $126 for Upper School, followed by monthly installments of $28 or $38, respectively.
  • Venmo invoices will be sent to accepted families.
